Beyond hanging a certificate on the wall, Millennium Environmental personnel recognize that efficiency and profitability are central to a client’s priorities. As such, management systems are developed to best suit the specific needs of the client.
Typically, management system development includes the following basic steps:
Millennium Environmental conducts a thorough audit of any existing elements of a management system to determine gaps that must be addressed in preparation for certification. All relevant documentation will be reviewed for conformance to the ISO Standard. Implementation will also be assessed by reviewing compliance requirements, personnel awareness, records, continuous improvement efforts, identification of risks, and internal review. Millennium Environmental will prepare and submit a report that details the results of the Gap Analysis.
ISO Standards require specific documentation. Poorly constructed documentation often leads not only to non-conformances but also to unproductive and cumbersome systems. Millennium Environmental prepares and submits all procedures, policy manuals and work instructions that will satisfy ISO requirements. As such, close attention will be paid to any existing documentation. Where possible and as the Standard permits, new documentation will be merged with existing documentation so as to create a cohesive system of documentation.
Facilities must pursue continuous improvement by identifying risks, compliance concerns and setting objectives and targets consistent with their management system. Methods, timeframes, and goals for achieving these objectives must be documented, maintained and reviewed by management. Millennium Environmental leads facilities through this entire process and assures the achievement of continuous improvement.
ISO Standards are explicit in their requirement that all employees receive management system training. Millennium Environmental will provide all necessary training per ISO requirements, which may include general awareness training, internal auditor training and executive management training.
Before a certification audit may occur, a facility must conduct a complete internal audit of their management system. Millennium Environmental will lead the internal audit process and preparation of Corrective Actions.
ISO Standards require facilities to seek regulatory compliance with all applicable local, state and federal laws. Millennium Environmental may audit the facility against all existing permits and all applicable local, state and federal regulations. The development of a master regulatory list may then be created in order to satisfy this element of the ISO Standard and serve as an effective tool for maintaining compliance.
Management review must occur prior to the certification audit. At the review, the suitability and effectiveness of the management system is reviewed, the effectiveness of corrective actions is assessed, and a determination is made regarding improvements to the system. Millennium Environmental will facilitate this management review meeting to insure all applicable elements of the ISO standard are addressed.
Millennium Environmental maintains a presence at the facility as required to ensure comprehensive and successful development and implementation of the management system. When not onsite, Millennium Environmental remains available via telephone and e-mail to all questions and comments that may arise during the certification process. If requested, Millennium Environmental will be available to attend the certification audit.
